El autor desarrolla en este libro las materias afines y expone los criterios que considera básicos para conseguir una gestión eficaz en la concesión de crédito a clientes, que pueda conducir al triple objetivo de minimizar las incidencias en los cobros, reducir a sus justos límites los recursos financieros a comprometer en la financiación de las ventas y obtener la mayor rentabilidad posible de tales medios.

Esta triple vertiente de un mismo problema es lo que determina la particular complejidad de la gestión del crédito, que se presenta como multidisciplinar (ha de apoyarse en conocimientos tan heterogéneos entre sí como son los contables, estadísticos, jurídicos o de marketing) y multiárea (su gestión afecta a Departamentos con objetivos diferentes cuando no contrapuestos).

Tales materias se evidencian como heterogéneas, no solo por su contenido, sino también por la extensión y profundidad que requiere el tratamiento de cada una de ellas con el fin de establecer unos criterios claros de actuación que puedan ser útiles a aquellos sobre los que recae la siempre compleja misión de gestionar el crédito.

Queda claro el ánimo del autor de reducir al máximo todo planteamiento teórico (que cuando resulta de posible interés se incluye en anexo) basando la exposición en los procedimientos empleados con éxito en la práctica de las empresas, apoyados en sencillos ejemplos numéricos, cuando no es el propio ejemplo numérico el hilo seguidor de la exposición, siempre acompañada de consejos y recomendaciones fruto de una larga experiencia profesional.
